How we work

It’s important to us that we offer you a professional, personal service and that you are delighted with our work.

Tree surgeon cutting through a high stumpOur well organised office is open from 8.30am until 5.30pm, Monday to Friday. If we are away from the office, please leave us an answerphone message and we will phone you back as soon as we can.

No obligation quotation

We will always discuss your requirements for tree surgery or consultancy work with you fully before providing you with a comprehensive written no obligation quotation. If necessary, we will also visit site to view the trees before quoting. We will be happy to clarify or explain any points to you.

If you are happy with our quotation, we would ask that you accept it in writing by email or by post or by sending us a purchase order if you are a commercial client.

We’ll deal with the red tape

If the trees you would like us to work upon are subject to statutory protection as they are either situated within a conservation area or are subject to a tree protection order, it is necessary to obtain consent from the local planning authority before any work can be carried out on the trees.

We can complete the necessary forms and deal with the Council on your behalf if you wish.

It’s important that you tell us whether your trees are subject to statutory protection. If you’re not sure, contact your local council to check.

We’ll schedule the work at a time to suit you

We will schedule your work for a convenient time for you, working to your requirements and deadlines. We can provide you with a partially completed site specific risk assessment and method statement before the day of the works if you require one. If appropriate, on the day of the works, our foreman/consultant will complete the risk assessment fully before starting the tree surgery or arboricultural consultancy work on site.

If you have any queries or issues, please speak to us on site. Our tree surgeons and consultant are all fully qualified and experienced in the work we undertake.

Ecology matters

We work in the natural environment every day and ecology is at the heart of what we do. We will never disturb a protected species, meaning that we may sometimes need to change our method of working to accommodate a roosting bat, nesting bird or hibernating grass snake.

We can remove the arisings or leave them on site

If you would like us to carry out hedge or tree surgery works for you, please have a think about what you would like us to do with the arisings. This is the debris that comes out of the tree or hedge and includes brash, cordwood from branches and larger diameter timber.

We would usually process the brash through a brushwood chipper and we can either remove the resulting chippings or leave them with you for use in your garden. If we are working in a less formal area, we can broadcast them onto the ground if you wish.

We can remove the cordwood and larger diameter timber from site or we can leave it for you to use as firewood. Let us know whether you would like it left in length or cut into log sizes. We wouldn’t usually split the logs. However, if this is something you need, we may be able to include this within your quotation.

Pay when the job is finished

Once we have completed your work, we will make sure that you are fully satisfied before we send you our invoice. We would ask that you settle our invoice within 30 days. We accept cheque or bank transfer.

We’ll deal with your queries promptly

If you have any queries, misunderstandings, complaints or comments about our work, please contact us and we will be happy to deal with them as soon as we can.
